We Can’t Talk About That

I was talking to a teenager and I asked him what he wanted to do when he was done school. He said he was thinking about becoming a vet but he wasn’t sure if he wanted to go to school that long and get into debt that deep. I asked him why he wanted to become a vet and he said because he would love to help animals. I said why don’t you start a shelter? Or your own clinic? Or if you have no money maybe a website that can facilitate the care of animals. He looked at me with a blank stare.

The older I get the more I realize how fucked up it is that throughout our schooling no one ever mentions that top spot.

That spot where you get to do whatever your heart desires. Where you have the freedom to create your life on your own terms and get paid what you deserve.

Everyday hundreds of thousands of kids go through the school system never being presented the whole picture. Endless opportunities are available in that top spot.

I know …not everyone can be an entrepreneur but you know what? A hell of a lot more could be if we presented the option.

The world is changing fast. The days of creating factory workers that follow the rules are over. We all know the planet is being destroyed at a faster rate than we can individually do anything about it. If we want to help the next generation, we need to start cultivating leaders or at the very least show them the option.
