Some of the greatest moments in my life have happenned by meeting someone I never expected. Some of the greatest opportunities have happenned the same way. But these days we are in a hurry, our heads are down, minds elsewhere and we often hear only the views we already recognize and rarely take the time to experience something or someone new.
Connecting with people with different views takes dropping the idea that you know it all. It takes courage to realize our similarities rather than our differences. Nelson Mandela reminds me of a quote by Rumi.
“Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing
and rightdoing there is a field.
I’ll meet you there.
When the soul lies down in that grass
the world is too full to talk about.”
