Dealing with competition


When I first opened my gym, I was the only gym around.
A year later Goodlife opened less than a 1km away.
Then Greco fitness opened directly in the building next to me.
Then Crossfit (which was an ex employee of mine) opened down the street.

Success always turns into competition.
But know that competition is never direct.
They’re never exactly like you.

What works is finding out what people love about what you do more than the rest.
To focus on that difference. That advantage that can’t be copied.

In the story of David and Goliath, little David didn’t win because he was stronger.
He won because he was smart enough to use a better weapon.

It’s easy to copy the nuts and bolts of a business but it’s hard to copy the heart and soul.
As long as you continue to discover the heart and soul of what you do and aren’t afraid to showcase it – you’ll be fine.

It’s hard to beat someone that never gives up.
