Don’t let anyone make you feel small

When I was 18 years old I joined a network marketing company selling some special protein. I recruited and signed up a bunch of my friends.

As time went on I started to feel like the company was sketchy. At a monthly group meeting in front of 50 or so people. I stood up and asked the crowd who to raise their hand if they were making money because I certainly wasn’t.

The leader, a “big shot” millionaire from Toronto quickly took me aside and said he would call me later.

When he called me, he explained that he had purchased positions under him and that he could put me higher up the hierarchy. I told him I wasn’t interested and he replied with a condescending tone that he doesn’t call just anyone and that I should be greatful to be talking to him. I replied saying that as a personal trainer I trained people way more successful than he was yet no one had ever talked to me like that. Then hung up on him.

Don’t ever under any circumstance make yourself small or lessen yourself in an attempt to please others. It never works out and anyone that tries to tell you otherwise has an agenda. Be who you are, no apologies.
