From a young age we’re told to be a certain type of perfect. At school we’re told to be a perfect student. Advertisers love to show us how imperfect we are and looking at your Instagram feed you would think that everyone’s life is perfect.
This obsession of never seeing the beauty in the cracks and always trying to be perfect often leads to serious health issues like anxiety and depression. Never being content with what you have or who you are.
But another thing that perfectionism does is that it makes you freeze from taking action.
That blog you’ve been wanting to start.
That book you’ve been wanting to write.
That business you’ve been wanting to launch.
It doesn’t have to be perfect. It just needs to be started and sent out into the world – to be “shipped”.
I love Khan Academy’s Mantra:
“Shipping beats perfection.”
It says it all. If you’re always waiting for things to be perfect you’re going to miss out on a lot of opportunities.
