Stories, Rituals and Power

Take a look at a court room. The people at the front wear long black robes.  They give each other the “judicial handshake”. They’re all seated by seniority with the judge in the middle sitting higher than everyone else. The costumes, gestures, rituals are all a story that someone at some point made up.

Now imagine a judge, a police officer or a priest wearing jeans and a ball cap. You can instantly sense the loss of power.

Stories aren’t just used in marketing. They’re used everywhere in our society. Used to create context and helping our society maintain order.
