When You Stand for Something

Pittsburgh Steelers offensive tackle Alejandro Villanueva showed incredible courage on Monday by standing up for what he believed in. Whether you think it was right or wrong is not the point. It’s one thing to follow a crowd but it’s another thing to be the only player to come out of the locker room for the national anthem. To send a message to the leader of the country while everyone sits back. Consequently Alejandro’s Jersey sales have moved up to the top selling Jersey on the NFL site.

It’s an easy thing to sit back and watch like everyone else. It’s a hard thing to be the first on the dance floor. To be vulnerable and ready for criticism in the face of uncertainty. But it’s those that do that become the heroes that we want to follow. It’s those that have the courage to stand for something that move us.

So let this be inspiration to always stand up for what you believe in. Don’t let anyone convince you otherwise. Don’t follow the crowd, they let the crowd follow you.
